A glacial atmosphere descends as frightening winds rumble in the distance. A team of brave explorers set out to cross an icy wilderness, banding together despite the cold, forbidding conditions. Against various challenges and pitfalls, the travellers stay strong, with happy thoughts of home and friendship keeping them warm and full of courage. Nothing can break their spirits. As the snow falls, they scale a mighty snow-capped mountain, traversing narrow icy paths and precarious cliffs. Just short of the peak, a thundering avalanche threatens to wipe them out. Will these fearless explorers make it out alive?

Avalanche will challenge your ensemble of brave explorers with bold melodies, accented accompaniments, eerie harmonics, and frantic tremolo. Originally composed for the Newman String Ensemble at the 47th Border Music Camp, 2023.
